Battle Systems

Overview

Summoner Master Legacy's battle system will allow the player's creativity and adaptability to shine in a truly unique and satisfying way.

Decisions made throughout the Run will determine the player's deck, health points, powerups and much more.

Once the battle begins, the objective is simple: Defeat the enemies while minimizing the damage done to the player's health.

Combat Flow

In Summoner Master Legacy, players engage in strategic turn-based battles against the enemy. Each turn follows 4 main phases as described below.

1.) Start of turn: Player's mana is replenished and the player draws 5 cards from the deck.

2.) Action phase: Players spend mana on either playing cards or commanding seals to attack.

3.) End of turn: Player concludes their turn by pressing the "End Turn" button. All remaining cards in hand are discarded to the discard pile.

4.) Enemy's turn: Enemy performs their indicated action. Once all actions have been resolved, the player's turn starts again.

Victory & Defeat

The player will achieve victory whenever all enemies have been eliminated. On the other hand, the player will be defeated when the player's health is depleted.

If both conditions are satisfied at the same time, it will result in the player's defeat.

The Battlefield

During combat, the player is presented with the Battlefield screen as shown below. There are many important elements to consider:

1.) Player's Status

This section contains important information about the player's current status and progression in the run.

a.) Health Indicator: The numbers displayed represents the player's current Banner health along with the max Banner health. When the Banner health is depleted, the player will be defeated and the run is concluded.

b.) Gold Indicator: This number represents the player's current gold. This is an in-run currency that can be used during the run.

c.) Relic Slots: This shows the player's current Relic(s). These are special equipment that provides power-ups to the player.

2.) Enemy's Field

This section contains the enemies of the current combat. Enemies can be classified into 2 types.

a.) Leader: Located at the top of the field is the Leader. There can only be a maximum of 1 Leader in each combat and their attack pattern is often varied is powerful.

b.) Minion: Located in the slots below the Leader, minions are often less powerful than the leader and often utilize direct attacks in their respective lanes. However, there can be up to 3 minions in each combat. Both the Leader and the Minions (if any) must be defeated in order to achieve victory. However, if indicated, some Minions flee the combat when their leader is defeated.

3.) Player's Field

This is the main section that the player will interact with during gameplay. Player's aim is to populate the seal slots using cards from the deck in order to defeat the enemy.

a.) Deck: Players draw cards from this pile.

b.) Hand: The hand represents the cards that players can play during the turn.

c.) Seal Slots: There are 6 slots where players can summon seals to. Once summoned, it can be used for both offense and defense.

d.) Discard Pile: At the end of player's turn, all cards are discarded to the discard pile unless specified otherwise.

e.) Shrine: When a seal is destroyed or when a mystic card is played, the card is placed in the shrine.

f.) Mana Indicator: In each turn, mana is replenished up to the current maximum amount. This can be used to play cards or seal attacks.

4.) Menus

Players can access the settings and other important options/information at anytime during gameplay through the icons in the menu section.

Seals and Mystics

In Summoner Master Legacy, players will utilize 2 main card types to defeat enemies in battle.

Seal Cards

At the core of the battle system is the seal cards. Players can use mana to summon seal cards onto the battlefield where they can help the player attack the enemies to deal damage, defend against enemy attacks and make use of their special abilities to gain an advantage in battle.

Seal cards possess the following gameplay properties:

1.) Attack: The amount of damage the seal will deal when attacking 2.) Health: The amount of damage the seal can take before being destroyed 3.) Mana Cost: The amount of mana required to summon this seal 4.) Ability: The ability the card possess 5.) Element: The seal's element, could have an effect on certain abilities 6.) Tribe: The seal's tribe, could have an effect on certain abilities 7.) Upgrade Slot: The slot to be used for upgrades during the run. Cards with special borders will have more slots than their standard counterparts

Mystic Cards

Mystic cards provide a wide range of functionalities and effects. Players can use mana to play these cards, activating a one-time ability that can have a dramatic effect on the battlefield. Mystic cards possess the following gameplay properties:

1.) Mana Cost: The amount of mana required to summon this seal 2.) Ability: The ability the card possess
